This is a an all day event at the "Mushroom Mountain" farm in Liberty, SC, taught by Tradd Cotter. Lunch is provided. Includes instruction, innoculated shiitake log, and a fruiting kit. Participants will learn different methods to cultivate mushrooms, designing mushroom gardens, and composting with fungi.
Truly a life changing experience. Perfect for teachers, gardeners, chefs, and the curious.

9:30 | Class - Mushroom Life Cycle
Tradd will discuss the relationships between fungi, plants and forest ecology, touch on bioremediation, and recycling using mushrooms.
10:00 | Log and Stump Cultivation
Students will learn how to use plug spawn, drilling techniques, and log care. Species covered: Shiitake, Maitake, Chicken of the Woods, and more….
11:00 | Wood Chip and Compost Cultivation
Tradd will show participants how to prepare an outdoor mushroom bed made of woodchips, cardboard or compost. Species covered: King Stropharia, Blewit, and Morels

Social Hour
Students will enjoy a vegeterian gourmet mushroom lunch prepared by Tradd and Olga.
1:00 | Gardening with Mushrooms
Intercropping vegetable and herbs with mushroom species, and wheat bale gardening techniques. Spored oil making.
1:30 | Wheat Straw Cultivation
Small and large scale cultivation of oyster mushrooms, greenhouse tour, biological pest control.
